New Parks & Open Space

The transformation and renewal of the Copley Hospital campus is a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reimagine the Bardwell neighborhood and address the current and future needs of residents.

According to the Fox Valley Park District’s Master Plan, this portion of Aurora has an open space deficiency of nearly 50 acres.

To help address this issue, Fox Valley Developers has acquired land adjacent to the main property over the past several months. As currently envisioned, this property is not needed to complete the redevelopment or bring the new concept to reality.

Instead, Fox Valley Developers bought this property, and is continuing to attempt to acquire outstanding land, so that it can be given back to the community through the creation of new accessible parkland and open space in partnership with the Fox Valley Park District.

In Partnership With The Fox Valley Park District

At the September 2018 Fox Valley Park District Board of Commissioners meeting, the Park District voted to pursue a grant for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help make the new park a reality. No announcements on grant funding have been made at this time.
